I Can't Sleep

Must be because of the adrenalin rush during Macho Gay.

Must be because of Coke. (coca cola people, not cocain)

Must be because I'm depressed.

Must be because of all the hate I'm holding inside.

Must be because of the siomai I had for dinner. question

Must be because I've learned that George Clooney is single again. Yay!

Must be because of "life in general." mrgreen

Wow! What a way to write my 200th post. Tsk tsk tsk. I'm having one of those sleepless nights again. *sigh. I'm watching ukelele showdowns on the tube and yet I don't feel sleepy, not at all.
cry I think I have to get off the net and resort to reading.

*I want to die just for this week and continue with my life IF I get resurrected.

Macho Gay Indeed!

--Okaaaaay, so what if I told myself to refrain from blogging until I get over this effing depression thingy? I like to eat my words. hahaha. At least this incident made me forget about those f*c^k&%g assholes! Nuff said --

You guys maybe familiar with the term but to those who aren't, Macho Gay involves straight men who are dressed as women and of course they act like one too. Well, we watched one last night. It's one of the many events for the coming fiesta of the place I'm staying right now. We know most of the contestants since they are our next door neighbors. They were really hilarious. Too bad we forg0t to bring the camera. Summing it all up:
  • the show was freaking funny
  • the contestants were all wasted
  • tagay is even done at the stage for all to see
  • the drunk emcee loves to swear while on the microphone. atay and peste were the words for the night.
  • and guess what? The show ended with a bang, literally.

What do you get from a contest full of drunkards. Of course a fight! After all, it wouldn't be complete without it. We were really laughing with tears on our faces because the stage collapsed.mrgreen I think my niece was a bit scared but I refused to go home. I've seen a lot of fights before and I enjoy it. Am I bad? twisted Well, in our place, this is not new. Tanods weren't even around. Yey! lol

Strange but Thanks!

Something strange is happening here, blogoversary announced my blog's birthday a month earlier. I checked my very first post and it's dated June 27 yet they displayed my blog yesterday (first on the list). hihihi. Anyway, thank you for all the greetings guys. Really appreciate it! mrgreen

I think I'm liking the idea of celebrating my blog's anniversary for two months. biggrin

I'll discuss my blog's history next month though and what I've been through and who I've met and blah blah blah.

Fly Me to the Moon

Err, lemme rephrase that -- Fly My Name to the Moon. mrgreen Have you heard about NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) project? Well, I found out recently (from another blog and I forgot the name. teheeredface) that they are giving people of all ages the opportunity to send their names to the moon aboard the LRO. Yeah, we can't really go there for free but sending our names with the craft is good enough don't you think? Unless you are some filthy millionaire then maybe you can buy yourself a ticket. nyahahah. Read more about the project here and send your name here.

Yeah! Yeah! I got a lot of heres here. nyahahahaha. I've read somewhere that it is not a good blogging practice to use here as an anchor text. Hey! Some things are better off the traditional way ayt. mrgreen Oh, I almost forgot. Below is my certificate in case you're hesitant. wink

Oh My Gulay!

For the benefit of my foreign readers, allow me to translate the title. It's Oh My Veggies! nyahahaha. [korniks] Anyway, we Filipinos like to strangle, I mean twist some words and have it replaced by our own. mrgreen So, what makes me blurt out these words you ask? Well, I've read that one office worker in the city of New York was fired by Mayor Michael Bloomberg because.....

he was caught playing the most popular PC game of all time. SOLITAIRE. source

Wahihihihi. If we have bosses like Mayor Bloomberg then we will all be sent down to the unemployment drain. (chuckle) I love playing Solitaire in the office. Particularly Spider Solitaire. HA! Good thing my station is far from by boss and I don't know if he really cares anyway since I've noticed that some of my officemates are even playing Warcraft or Dota in their stations. Sigh! Dang it! Back to Solitaire, I rounded up some facts about it.

The word solitaire is of french origin, and it means patience.

Solitaires "have a marvelous capacity both to soothe and challenge the mind of the player" (Trevor Day and The Diagram Group, Collins Gem Patience Card Games, HarperCollins Publishers, 1996, ISBN 0004720164, p. 3)

"Patience is the mental equivalent of jogging: its purpose is to tone the brain up and get rid of unsociable mental flabbiness." (David Parlett, The Penguin Book of Patience, Penguin Books, 1980, ISBN 0140463461, p. 11)

"It has many virtues, not the last being that it teaches one the self discipline of being honest with oneself." (George F. Hervey, The illustrated Book of Card Games for One, ISBN 0890091137, p. 7)

Secure Connectivity

The Internet is perhaps one of the best innovation for mankind. However, as much as we want it to be- it is never flawless. If you think that confidential files stored in your servers are secured then think again. Have you heard about how hackers penetrated the most complex security systems in the world? If you want to make sure that you connectivity is secure then you might want to look at the wide range of services Pragma Systems is offering. Telnet, Secure Copy or SCP, SSH servers, name it, they've got it. Pragma is a privately held corporation with headquarters located in Austin, Texas. The organization was founded in 1990 by David Kulwin and Quamrul Mina.

Tickle Me On A Sunday

Okay, the title is not really that convincing but since I'm having one of those writer's block right now, I've decided to have my own version of Wordless Days. Yeah, the idea is not original. I know! Spare me the lecture! mrgreen This one is an exception though. It's not as wordless as I want it to be. I have a vast collection of funny pictures so I've decided to make the most of it. Here goes the first one.

Never Too Late

Summer is almost over, but since we are in a tropical country, we can always catch a few beach weather for the coming months. So, why not go buy a new pair of swimsuits. Now the original swimsuit is a one-piece type which covers most of the torso. These days, you can see a wide variety of swim wear. You can choose from maillots which is a sexier version of the traditional one-piece to tankinis. Usually, the most common beach wear we can see today are the two-piece bikinis. If you are up for showing a lot of skin, then this one is for you.

My Cousin: The Traveler

I have a cousin who is so fond of traveling and high risk sports. Skiing, scuba diving, trekking, parachuting - name it she's tried it all. Sometimes I wonder if she ever felt scared while on it. Then she told me that no matter what happens she's sure that she will be covered with her travel insurance. I don't travel a lot so I asked her about it. I've learned that travel insurance should be arranged at the time of the booking for a trip. Usually, insurance covers medical expenses, accidents, cancellation, and delayed departure to name a few. As for her case, a separate insurance can be purchased since she is involved in high-risk sports which are usually done in high risk countries.

Funny Adverts

Went to the mall last weekend and I saw two interesting adverts.

These are nail polish named after two Hollywood actors Collin Farrel and Antonio Banderas. hahahaha. Poor guys, they never knew that they are effeminized in our country.

For this one, tell me honestly whose name comes to your minds the minute you see this. He's a great TV host. He is handsome of course. He's better known as Judai's better half? Any ideas? YES, this girl looks like RYAN AGONCILLO with make-up and a wig. hihihihi.

The Day Shift Owl

Geez, I can't believe it. It's almost a week since my last post. What happened? Where have all the ideas gone? What could have caused this atrocious behavior? What ever happened to the ever-dedicated blogger nicknamed Mimay? hihi (korniks) Well, let me round up a few reasons.

1. I went out of this world for a vacation! I went to Mars for a while. Check if it's really conducive for humanity. I've been shocked with the latest disasters of biblical proportions that I want to bid on the first piece of land on Mars. hihihi

2. I've been busy promoting my blogger documentary. (chuckle) Actually, I never started that project. Not yet!

3. I've been busy checking out (spying) on my nieces. I've noticed that their night-life has become a little bit active these days. Hmmm, what are these girls up to now? Anyway, I know they're old enough but the mother figure in me just can't help but worry. nyahaha. mader!

5. I've been busy with my night-life too. I've been busy listening to the right pronunciation of words. I've realized that I'm into writing much that I forgot how to say the words properly. (You think I'm going to say that I've got a night life too huh?) hihi. If you want to listen too, then Merriam-Webster is the best way for it. Just key-in the word and click the volume icon and Voila! Instant pronunciation tutorial!

6. Photoshop - nuff said!

7 . I am now on DAY SHIFT. Yes, this is really the reason behind my absence from the blogging world. Me, the self-professed owl, the java junkie, the ungo as what my cousin likes to call me, now works at DAYLIGHT! Aaargh! Imagine the burden of getting up early in the morning to shut off the alarm and sleep back! Ha! Imagine the stinging cold water. *sob Imagine having to go to the office half-dead for twelve hours. Oh my! I don't know how long I can take this. I can't say the reason here but let's just say that we're deprived of rights to access the you-know-what by you-know-who.

To make matters worse, I have to beat the deadline for my other job because I never had the time to finish them all up because by the time I get home, I hit the sack and too tired to get up!

Documenting the Documenters

I am officially closing down this blog. I'm tired of the rat race already! I have tried my best, then again nothing is good enough. I have to admit that I envy those people who have higher PRs and yet they don't really give enough passion to blogging like I do. I hate it when people criticize you whenever you express opinions on blog. What ever happened to democracy? I am tired, too tired that no creative juices flow down my spine. In fact, I am suffering from a bloggers block syndrome. I can't think of what to say because all I'm thinking about are the what-ifs. What if they won't like it? What if I will offend someone with this post? What if the world is coming to an end and I haven't got the time to publish this? What if (sob)

aaaaaaaaaandddddddd CUT!!! THIS IS SO NOT ME!

Yes, I'm thinking of creating a documentary focusing on a bloggers life. I have seen a lot of blogs and I have read a lot of rants. I've seen one person morph (either good or bad) just by reading his/her blog. Ain't blogging great? Sadly, some blogs are now monetized. It's not that I'm against it because I also take some paid post sometimes. It's just that a blog is once defined as an online diary. It's where you write what is currently going on with your life. It is an online documentation of your life. Somehow, monetization has defeated a blog's purpose. Blogging can either make you or break you! Anyway, I'll busy myself with this project. Now the question is, who am I going to choose? hmmmmm. Not me of course, any volunteers? hihihihi mrgreen

My Blogging Personality

Your Blogging Type is Kind and Harmonious

You're an approachable blogger who tends to have many online friends.

People new to your blogging circle know they can count on you for support.

You tend to mediate fighting and drama. You set a cooperative tone.

You have a great eye for design - and your blog tends to be the best looking on the block!

What's Your Blogging Personality?

Hmmm, I'm glowing with pride. I think I deserve a pat in the back don't you think? haha. I'm not sure about the "online friends" thing though. Well, I find it easy to trust people and I love making friends online then I saw this, I've read something from somewhere (di kaayo libog noh?) and I was a bit offended. Mind you, I love writing and I love my blog. Then again, I can never please everybody right? I guess I'll just have to say this to myself everytime I feel down. I don't wanna sound condescending or something but I'm sure there are some blogs worse than mine. If you don't like my style then stay off my page. taray ng lola mo! hihi. Seriously now, I just want to thank all of those who appreciates my blog and those who never cease to criticize it. Toodles! mrgreen

Sh*t: Mareng Winnie Cussed On Air

I was watching "Unang Hirit" minutes ago and Mareng Winnie is being interviewed by Susie regarding tuition fee increase. Not a new topic really because every year fees continue to rise as fast as I can raise my left brow. I found out that education comes 4th in the highest consumer price index list. Fuel being the first, water comes second, and third is oil (i think, i forgot hihi).

As always, Mareng Winnie went yakkity yack then comes the glitch. There was a technical error of sorts and I can imagine the auditory feedback on her earpiece. I saw her winced and mouthed the "S" word. She tried to cover her mouth thereafter but it was too late though. hahaha. It was really funny. That's the beauty of live telecast! The show must go on no matter what happens. mrgreen

Summing it All Up in One Paragraph

I want to break a record. hahaha. Kidding, I just want to say what has happened in one paragraph.

Last Sunday we watched "Iron Man" and i was close to tears not because of the drama but it was darn right funny. Really, the script was great. We dined at Dessert Factory and had the urge to barf everything up when i found out that the bill almost reached a thousand. When I got home, I waited for opps to earn me some moolas to no avail. So I decided to create the articles for another job but sadly I ended up searching for Photoshop tutorials. Now, i'm still at it. I love vectorizing my pictures and I just cant stop myself from Photoshopping. hahah. This is far better than window shopping. Now, I don't know if i can still make those 15 articles when all I can think about is how to create a pop art-inspired photo. HA! May the Good Lord help me on this.Anyway, multi-tasking is great. hmmm, This must be due to the three cups of coffee I just consumed. Now, it's Tuesday and I have to go back to the office tonight. Goodbye Photoshop. *sob

Confessions of a Javaholic

I've been pondering on why my brain seems to react slower than my usual perky manner. After writing the first sentence, I have to stop and wonder why I'm doing this again. mrgreen See, that's how deranged I am right now. Hmm, must be the sudden change in temperature. It has rained for almost a week now and all I want to do is sleep, sleep, and sleep. So much for the advice "getting enough sleep for a healthy mind" huh? Now, I can't even think clearly. Oh, now I remember. It's been quite a while since I had a cup of joe. That explains it. dang! I'm missing my caffeine fix that's why I'm feeling like a zombie. Yep, I am a certified Javaholic. However, I think I have become immune to its power. Instead of perking me up and keeping me from getting sleepy, a cup of coffee is enough to send me to La-la-land. (chuckle) It's like milk to me already. Geez!

So, while drinking coffee, I stumbled upon this funny story on how coffee came about. It's quite long so lemme just give you the gist.

In a distant country called Ethiopia, there lived an excellent goat herder named Kaldi. One day, he was awakened by a ruckus outside his tent. When he went out to check it, he was amused with his herd's behavior. It's as if they're acting like kids again. Thereafter, he discovered that the goats had consumed berries of a native bush. He tried eating one berry and found out that it is indeed good. He was full of vigor and was then how do we say it these days? ADDICTED to it. One day, a monk passed by and was mesmerized by Kaldi's exhibition of sorts with his herd. Curious, the monk asked Kaldi what has caused such entertaining spectacle. So Kaldi told him everything. The monk thought that the berries are some sort of a divine revelation from God. He thought it will solve his problem of falling asleep while meditating. He thought that it will help other people who are desperately seeking ways on how to stay on the Internet for hours. nyahahaha. So, the monk and Kaldi joined forces and experimented on the berries until the right way of serving coffee was discovered. -end-
There! This should do all coffee addicts some justice. razz And oh! before I forget, we should be thankful for coffee, did you know that before coffee was born beer is served during breakfast? yatapsing kudasing

Ma, I Lab Yuuu!

While all bloggers are buzzing on their sites regarding Mother's Day, I was arguing with my Mom. mrgreen No major issues involved, don't worry. It's just that I was looking forward to meeting her at Malapascua Island this Sunday. Unfortunately, the weather refuses to cooperate because I heard that there's a typhoon coming in Leyte. I was so pissed since I too am excited to go back to the island and I know it's going to be fun considering that the accomodation is free (our relatives owned a resort there). I am also excited to talk to Ma about her petty quarrels with my father. mrgreen Kinda exciting! Who would've thought that old people still fight on senseless things. Well, my father is a drunkard, hahaha, sometimes that is and my Ma is not liking it as of the moment. So, she told me that she's running away from home. nyahahahaha. OA ha! So anyway, I am more than willing to have her here. That way, someone can finally cook me some scrambled eggs in the morning 'coz I miss them soooo much. It's funny just by the thought of my Ma & Pa arguing. Hahaha. Believe me, ours is not a perfect family but I am proud of their uniqueness. Haven't you guys read about the post concerning my mother's texting ability? Read it here.

So, Ma- even if you admitted once upon a time that you hardly know me because of my going away from home at an early age, I want you to know that I LOVE YOU so much. I love you even if when I uttered these words, all you can say is "hehehe." I love you even if we never spent some good times together. I love you even if our housemaid was the first to know that I had my first menstruation. hahahaha. Even if the maid advised me to sit on a Gabi leaf, I still love you for not being there to see my stupidity. hahaha. Seriously now, I just want you to know that I am very thankful to have you as my mother. I know there are times that you had me wishing for another Mother but I was wrong and stupid. I know you went through a great deal of trouble to make me what I am right now, but I know you enjoyed most of it. biggrin And oh, before I forget, you're baby is now a lady. nyahahaha! You never saw me transform into one but I just want you to know that if ever I want to get hitched, you'll be the first to know. Kidding! Here's a little scrapbook I've made especially for you.

Cheers to all Mothers in the world and to my sister too.

Who Moved My Cheese?

You guys familiar with the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" by Spencer Johnson? It talks about changes, both in life and in organizations. Cheese here is used as a metaphor. It represents something that we value most. Families, friends, jobs, money, anything that plays an important role in our lives.

We had a workshop of the same title yesterday and it was fun. First off, it was an official non-invisibility day. You see, I like to consider myself invisible in the office. Why? Well, it started when I smiled at somebody and was totally ignored. Could it be that my smile is deadly? HA! Not! Anyway, there's something about that office that makes me just sit on my station and go on with my work and not minding anybody, except for the moderators. Now, back to the workshop. The story involves two small people named Hem & Haw and two mice named Sniff & Scruffy. Clearly, the name indicates each of their characteristics. The four of them lived in a big maze and they were presently located at a particular area where cheese is abundant. Then again, nothing is constant in this world. So, guess what? Sniff anticipated that they will soon need to find other source of cheese and so Scurry, being the energetic one, led the way. Now that all the cheese are gone, Haw bawled "Who Moved My Cheese?" Hem was a bit shocked but it never faltered his faith because he knew that they can still find other source. But Haw refused to go with him. So the story evolves until Hem found cheese and was surprised that Sniff & Scurry were already there. End of story.

Actually it is a long story and I forgot to mention that everytime Hem learns a lesson, he writes it on the walls hoping that Haw will read them in case he follows. One saying that I liked most is this "If You Don't Change, You Will Become Extinct." Straight to the point right? Some people doesn't want to change. I know a few. As for my case, I can say that I am a chameleon. I can adopt to change easily. This must be the very important lesson I've learned when I got real sick. Accepting changes in life and of course patience. If something ends, one cannot start right away. There is an area in between called transition. It's your choice if you want to dwell on it longer and refuse to start a new life. My advice? Don't stay too long. Nowadays, change is inevitable. With the advent of technology, staying on your comfort zone may cause disorientation the moment you decided to go out of it because believe me, it is going to be different. Afterall, change is the only constant thing in the world. Doing the same thing over and over again is boredom.

Goodbye NZ

I've never been there yet I'm saying goodbye. *sob cry I've told you guys once upon a post that I'm planning to go there right? Well guess what? I'm not. Here's why:
me: hi te, what's up with our plans?
cuzn: hmm, I don't think they'll allow you
me: huh? why?
cuzn: coz you're young, single, and beautiful
me: so?
cuzn: they're afraid you won't leave the country and marry a Kiwi
me: nyahahaha
cuzn: im serious
me: tang-ina, mrgreen ampir!
me: I'll consider Dubai, thanx anyway
cuzn: heard they've got lots of opps there
me: yeah, so they say
cuzn: get hitched then apply again sa NZ
me: nyahahaha, ayowkooooo
This is sooooooooo unfair. *sob But really, I still want to stay here. Maybe when I turn 23 or 24, I'll leave the country. Yes, I'm still 21. nyahahahaha. mrgreen No, maybe when I turn 25. *sigh! I should've took nursing, that way other countries will be begging for my services. nyaks!wink

Scarred Hands

Have I told you that I'm a bookworm? I guess not. So, whenever I'm not blogging, I read. Boring huh? Anyway, I have this book with a torn front cover and I got curious about its contents. Turn out it's full of short- and inspiring-stories. I have learned a lot from it. One story that I like most is entitled "Scarred Hands." Let me tell you the (abstract) story. smile

Once upon a time, hihi, char lng. No really now! There was once a big fire that engulfed a whole block of houses. Just when the firemen thought that everyone is in a safer place, someone shouted that they saw a boy on the 5th floor of a burning building. The firemen panicked, no one in his right mind would go in to that scorching heat. Then, one man rushed from the crowd and braved the heat. He was able to save the child through steel pipe at the back. Everybody sighed with relief and lauded the man. Days after, a public hearing was conducted for the child's custody because he was orphaned. One teacher sad that she should be chosen because she can provide education. The farmer boasted that the child needs the out-of-doors. The rich man said that he can provide the child with everything that has been said. Nobody argued. Then from the back, a man rose and approached the child. Once he's facing the boy, he slowly took his hands off from his pockets. Everybody gasped because the hands were badly scarred. The boy gave a cry of recognition and hugged the man. The stranger had won custody without saying a word. -end-
Now what is the lesson of the story you say? Think about it. The reason why I like this story is because this too can be applied at work. Ask yourself this, "Have I scarred my hands with work so that when the next promotion comes, my scars would speak louder on my behalf?" We all need scars. We should work for scars of honor and of merit. Sadly, some people are too dumbfounded by words that they fail to notice the screaming scars of those who are worth it. Look at Japan now. We all know that they were deeply scarred during the World War. Yet, they were able to get up due to their selfless dedication to work and their country. If only we are like them.
