Our First Team Building Activity

Finally, after four (or was it five? i forgot hihihi) months we had our first ever Team Building Activity at KARTZONE. We had fun. Like they say, a picture paints a thousand words, so less talk and more photos. Besides, I am too tired to think of what to say. hehehehe

Rest of the pics are here.

The Oscars

Tsk! Tsk! My bet, Juno's Ellen Page, wasn't chosen as Best Actress. It was French actress Marion Cotilard instead for "La Vie En Rose." George Clooney didn't win either, but I was never that impressed with is acting. I don't know who Best Actor Daniel Day-Lewis is and I haven't seen any of his movies so I can't elaborate more. (chuckle) "No Country for Old Men," must be a good movie considering that it was chosen as Best Picture and the Coen brothers grabbed the Best Director award. Jessica Zafra has something to say about THE brothers, here.

Jennifer Garner looked stunning and is number one on the Best Dressed list. On the other hand, Jessica Alba and Cameron Diaz made it to the Worst Dressed list. And oh, "27 Dresses" Katherine Heigl was so so RED, and tagged as the epitome of Hollywood glamour. For the complete list of winners, click here.

I...am Going to Die

Just woke up from my 4-hour sleep and when I opened yahoo's home page, I saw the following headline screaming at me: "How Much Sleep is Enough?" If you want to talk about sleep then spare me. I rarely sleep at all. Now that month end is just around the corner, I have to race with time to meet the deadlines. sheesh. Anyway, less rants and try to read the following if you are one of the many sleepless creatures in this crazy world where you have to have dark circles under your eyes to survive. (char lng, heheh)

Most people who regularly get less than seven hours of rest are simply unaware of the damage that fatigue and sleepiness is doing to their bodies. Chronic "short-sleepers," as scientists call them, have forgotten what it feels like to be well-rested, says Robert Rosenberg, medical director of the Sleep Disorders Center of Prescott Valley, in Arizona. The evidence indicates that a person who regularly sleeps less than seven hours a night functions as badly as someone who hasn't slept for one to three days, according to a research review published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine last year. Other current research indicates that lack of sleep affects the body's hormones, immune system and metabolism; hence, it can be a risk factor for obesity, diabetes and heart disease. To evaluate the quality of your own sleep—and whether you're getting enough—try these tools offered by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. source: yahoo

Yeah right, the last time I remember what it feels like to be well-rested was when I got real sick. I don't wanna end up like that anymore, heaven forbid.

Talking to the Dead

Tell me, do you talk to the dead?

Needless to say, Filipino tradition or shall we say superstition- talking to the dead is not an unusual thing. I grew up in a family where praying, talking, and offering food to the dead is a custom. When someone gets sick, I am usually picked to lead the prayer 'coz my mother believes that the souls of my grandparents and many other great great relatives can help. Well, I don't really have a firm belief in this but I still do what is told. Honestly, I don't believe that they can hear us. I mean, I haven't met someone who has had a near death experience and lived to tell the tale. But one thing I remember well (this still creeps me out) was when I dreamt about my Aunt who just passed away. This is going to be humiliating but during her vigil, I farted. hehehe. I was so young and naive then. To add insult to the injury, the dictator in my father was unleashed when he found out that I was the stinking culprit. That night, my dead Aunt appeared to me in a dream and scared the hell out of me. I guess when they want to, they can really talk to you in your dreams or appear out of the blue. hahaha. I don't wanna experience the latter though, heaven forbid.

Now, you might be wondering why the topic right? Well, I just saw Gloria Arroyo on national television paying tribute to World War II heroes. With a stern look in her face, I wonder if she might be talking to the dead. hahahah. With all the controversies facing her administration right now, I am sure that she is calling all the souls of heroes for them to help her. As for the poor souls, I can imagine them gathered and snickering on the President. Think of Zeus and all the Gods and Goddesses atop Mount Olympus smiling down at someone asking for their help. Funny right? hahaha. Wherever dimension they maybe, heaven I hope, I am sure that they too are longing for the president to give up her post. hahahaha

Anyway, I don't want to be too politically biased here. I know that some would still want GMA to continue her post while some don't. Still, I want to share an opinion I heard while onboard a cab. The commentator said that "Why don't we all let Gloria finish her term. After all, when someone replaces her, people will then again look for loopholes and cliche as it may sound, 'history will then repeat itself.'"

I rest my case.

Attack of Tapolness

Tapolness - [ta-powl-neez]
noun.
1. Visayan version of Laziness, parallel to that of Tagalog's tamaditis.
2. inactivity resulting from a dislike of work
Yes, I feel so tapolan today. I'm not quite sure if last night's incident was the reason but then again, I kept on convincing myself that you can never please everybody. I don't wanna explain it here, afraid that someone might read it and claim that I am talking about them when in fact I am not. Could be another person but if you feel that you have done your part in my being so down today then just keep it to yourself.

There are lots of definition for this word but I like the second one. Pow! Straight to the point! I woke up late, turned on the PC and then stare at my toothy desktop wallpaper. We stared at each other for like a minute. hahahaha. I practically yawned a dozen times. My friends are online yet I don't wanna chat with them. I answer their messages but that's that. I used to have Monday sickness, but today is a Tuesday for Christ's sake! What is wrong with me?

I then checked my blog, see if I have new visitors, hits, and the likes. Yes, I had a couple. I was beaming but it wasn't enough to lift me up. *sigh I even turned up my volume to the highest level only to find myself turning it off 'coz I got pissed off. Hahaha. I am pissing myself off. Strange!!!

I bloghopped. Found some juicy ones down to the most weird ones. *yawn. I wanted to go back to my work but I don't have the strength to. Okay, I just yawned thrice just by writing this post. hahaha. Now I am browsing Hollywood Web sites. Yep, I like browsing pics of celebrities and ogle and thank God that they are not really that perfect. hehehehe. Finally, I have decided to change my desktop wallpaper. Check this out:

cute? murag ako. nyahahah. *sigh layp o layp, it's almost 12 and I haven't started on my work yet. Maybe tomorrow. Procrastination rocks!!! hahahaha

Good thing, we had a post V-day party at Sandrtrap in Banilad and right after, I went with my single friends and paint the town red. hahaha. Cliche! Red=Valentine's Day. Where na U? Here na Me.

I hate textspeak. I don't use textspeak. I'd rather key in hehehehehe to the up tenth power than typing LOL. I'd rather say "Where R U?" (coz it sounds better and it does make sense) rather than "Where na U?" I'd rather say "I'm here" rather than "Here na ME." Why is it so hard for you guys to just use your own vernacular. Like in our case, Bisaya. Why? 'coz it sounds "so in" like the kikay students who spend most of their time splurging on their parents' money just to be cool? But then again, I don't wanna speak too soon. I just received a text from my Mama this morning. It says:

"Mi, why man di na u txt me? "

I blinked 'coz maybe I was just seeing things but nooooo. My Mama, the Teacher now Principal, is using textspeak? nooooooooooooooooo. wahehehehehehehehe. I wonder how she send messages to her fellow supervisors and subordinates. hahahahahahaha. I was so shocked that I called her and told her why in the world is she using such language. What a way to start my morning, oh I mean what a way to end my morning. hahaha. I just got back from graveyard shift. Toodles, have to doze off to la-la-land and hope to dream about him again, the same dream I had last night or last morning or whatsoever. waheheheheheheheh. char lang.

An Elegy to My Sunnies

For a year you have been my constant companion
To barrio fiestas, to a number of summer escapades
For once I have shown great devotion
To sunglasses which, unknown to some, I secretly despise

Yet the moment I wore you
I looked myself at the mirror and said
"damn I look good"
I then reveled on the thought that I could wear such accessory

But now I am deeply low-spirited
Because when I took you off your purse
Your left lens fell off
The HORROR! the HORROR!

Who could've done such an atrocious behavior?
Who the hell in his right mind could do such thing
Until now, I don't know whose butt has done the crime
But I assure you that I will hunt that butt down. (lol)

Now that summer is just around the corner
I bid farewell to my constant companion
The one who made me braved the scorching heat of the sun
The one who hid my rolling eyes whenever I hear something duh!
The one who has made my friends green with envy
G - O - O - D - B - Y - E

Happy Heart's Day

Whoopsie, I've just realized my mistake. *chuckle. I blogged on summer first 'coz I forgot that Valentine's Day is within reach. hahaha. Well you can't blame someone who doesn't really appreciate that day ayt? But anyway, I just wanna wish you all a very wonderful Heart's day and why don't you guys make it a week. *wink. That way, you can really appreciate this occasion which is by the way, marked red on my calendar. Hmmm, I wonder if it's a holiday. haha.

I can't really write on this topic 'coz like what most Cebuanos say, I always head to Fuente Circle to be executed by a "Firing Squad." hahah. By the way, can someone please explain to me why it is always like that? I mean, why should dateless persons on V-day be executed? In my 10 years here in Cebu, I still don't quite get the gist. hehehehe.

So, allow me to share some light (funny) quotes about love.

Valentine's Day is when a lot of married men are reminded what a poor shot Cupid really is.

I wanted to make it really special on Valentine's day, so I tied my boyfriend up. And for three solid hours I watched whatever I wanted on TV.

Love is like an hourglass, with the heart filling up as the brain empties.

To be in love is merely to be in a state of perceptual anesthesia

"I detest 'love lyrics.' I think one of the causes of bad mental health in the United States is that people have been raised on 'love lyrics." - Frank Zappa

Love is like quicksilver in the hand. Leave the fingers open and it stays. Clutch it, and it darts away.

A bride at her second wedding does not wear a veil. She wants to see what she is getting.

Men only have two faults....What they do, and what they say!

You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into your lover's arms can only come later when you're sure they won't laugh if you trip.

If love is the answer, could you rephrase the question.

True love is like seeing ghosts; we all talk about it, but few of us have ever seen one.

You Blew My Brains Off

So okay, call me fickle but I don't like Enrique Iglesias anymore. heheh. This is a record breaker. When was the last time I was ogling at him again? Two, three days ago? haha. Really, I've been thinking that he's a little gay-ish. It's cute but I don't like the way he goes out to the public and hog the cameras with his mouth hanging open. hehehehe. It is hot, but dear don't make it a habit. Are you trying to takeover Posh Spice's trademark pout? So, curiosity therefore kills the cat, in my case, it killed my avidity. I googled him up and found this quite disturbing statement

Enrique, who has been in a longterm relationship with Anna Kournikova, told Genre magazine,

“My stylist is gay and lives in Los Angeles and when he came to Miami, he went out. And I asked, ‘Your boyfriend doesn’t care?’ And he said, ‘We have an understanding if I’m out of the city.’ When I saw George Michael, he said the same thing. I’m going to have to have a talk with my girl!”
source

Oh well, it was good while it lasted. But he is still hot, I like his built. nyahahahah. Bayot lng. aw. hahahah. Hmmm, I guess I have to go back to Josh Hartnett and Topher Grace now. *wink

One Well Done, Slightly Burnt Skin Please

Summer is here!!!! Wohoo. I can feel it. My room is becoming one humongous oven now. If you want to go to a sauna tell me 'coz spending like 30 minutes in my room will have you sweating heaps. hehehe.

I wanna go out and worship the sun. I wanna get sun burnt...I wanna go back to Malapascua. By the way, in Leyte, we call the island "Logon," 'coz of the one wonderful lagoon found at the end of the island. I wonder if it is still the same virgin island as before. I remember very well how we braved big waves on a small banca just to get on that wonderful island. We happen to have relatives there and when we were invited, I jumped unto the nearest banca not knowing that we have to cross one hella big of an ocean with dolphins tagging along. Mind you, the first time I saw them I was white as a sheet washed with Tide. They are not really that cute, they kinda remind me of sharks. We even stopped on the site where a supposed ocean volcano was featured in Ernie Baron's show, (I forgot the title) but later on declared as a seamount. Yep, there's a difference. That's the shoal where most foreigners dive and meet the sharks. hehehe. But anyway, we arrived safely, thanks God.

I hope commercialism has not spoiled the island dubbed as little Boracay. I have been there thrice but that was eons ago. I wonder what it looks like now. I tried googling it and found the following pics.

And oh, I almost forgot. Two hours from Malapascua is another island called Calangaman. It's known for its long sandbank. Check this out and oh, it's near Tabango, Leyte too, my hometown.

I checked the rates and its on dollars, 40 in particular. But there are also organized snorkeling trips. I guess the latter can save you some bucks. Hmmmm, I wanted to go right this very moment 'coz it's so effing hot here. Then again, I'm not even sure if we're allowed to have a vacation. *sob *sob. But anyway, I will definitely go there, it's a matter of time management right? I wonder if they have Wi-fi there. hehehehe

Booger

My niece and I went to Colon to pay the water bill and of course to window shop. With all of those Chinese retail stores sprouting like mushrooms, you'll never know what you can get. Mind you, their RTWs are as good as those you can see in malls but in Colon, it is much cheaper and of course, you are allowed to haggle. But anyway, this is not the story. hehehe. Just trying to promote Colon these days. heheh

So, while on board the jeepney on our way home, we were chatting our hearts out not minding other passengers when suddenly my niece told me that I had a visible booger. Guess what she did? She took the freedom of inserting that yucky thing inside my nose. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. "What the heck did you do that for?" I asked her while laughing hysterically with tears rolling down my check. It was so hilarious. hahahaha. She said that she don't know how to tell me about it so she decided to just push it back inside my proboscis. It took us the whole trip to stop laughing. That was sooo uncalled for...hahahahahha

How about you? What's the best way of saying to your friend that he/she has a protruding booger in public? nyahahahhaa

Those Were the Days

Scanning my latest posts, I've noticed that now I write according to my current mood. Way too different from previous posts which were focused on current events, politics, you know, more serious things. It's kinda funny knowing that my blogs have evolved from serious to funny and corny ones. Hmmm. Those were the days. I wanna do these things again but I am not psyched to do so. Not now. Maybe I am just too angry or depressed or sad or all of the above. heheh. But anyway, if this is your first time here, here are some of the posts I truly like.

Well, that's about it. Just go over my previous posts 'coz you might find something interesting. *wink

Hate Begets Inspiration

This blog has been put on a hiatus over the weekend? Why? Because the author, I, me, have to undergo a trial which until now I don't know how to overcome. The thing is, it's not a big deal really. I mean, when I ask other people about it, my friends especially. They always tell me to forget all about it and move on. They have been telling me this for years now. haha. So, now I am slowly making my first steps away from the past. Then again, our past will always be a part of our lives no matter how much we try to shake them off our brains. Now that I am accepting the fact that I cannot beat it, I might as well jive with it. I know in God's time, all of this will be gone. But God, excuse me first because the following is going to be sinful...

What a great way to end this hiatus with a rant. Afterall, my moods have been my constant companion when I write. When I feel happy, I write. When I feel sad, I write. Now that I am angry as a lion caged to life, I WRITE. I just don't understand how people can be so insensitive. I am not insensitive, so what does that make me? An alien? Oh puhleaassseeeee. Spare me. I hate it when people think that they are all that. Maybe I am just being paranoid or something more that that. haha. But no! So what am I ranting about? Well, let us put it this way. There's this particular person whom I call a friend but then let's change it to past tense, A person whom I called a friend. I just don't understand her. I know she's been observing me for long now and I have a feeling that she's secretly cursing behind my back, calling my works mediocre, blah blah. Hello! Last thing I heard this is a democratic country and I have the right to write anything I want. Much more on blogs 'coz there are no boundaries. Well, there's libel but I won't go to that level. So why not just start your own blog and rant about me there. I would definitely love to exchange links with you. SUS!!!. Take that you $#^&%#$^%#$%#^.

Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.
Ok, peace nata. hehehe. hadlok ko ani nga quote dah. nyahaha. Got this one from my previous post "Quotes from Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven."

When I Asked for Sunshine, I Got Rain

I don't know if it was a spur-of-the moment thing or just another consequence of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. Last night, I just had him deleted from my Friendster account. Why? I don't know. Fed up? Maybe. Tired? For sure. Angry? Hell Yeah!

This may sound funny but I am fond of asking God for signs. This time, when I asked for sunshine, I got rain. I dunno if I have misinterpreted my dream but from the looks of it, It told me to stop. Stop thinking about him, stop reminiscing about the past, stop hoping that one day we can meet and patch things up, stop hoping that he loves me. Because of that dream, which I am not going to elaborate here, I've decided to just STOP. I know it's not going to be easy. After all, how many times have I done this? Twice? Thrice? But still, I come back for more.

This time, there's no turning back. I have to make my words soft though because eventually, I may have to eat them back. It is going to be hard but it's a growing up thing. I have to move on. Goodness, it's been a year and more. I can't imagine how blinded I have been. Yeah! Because I chose to be one. I just wish I can find someone greater than him. Someone who will love me more. A love that I can truly appreciate directly from him, not just word of mouth from a common friend.

This is going to be the last time I'm going to shed tears for that one lucky son-of-a-gun. They say that when you're in love, you will never ran out of tears. Scanning my previous entries, I can only imagine how many bucketful of tears I've shed writing those uber-emotional BLAGS! Sheesh!

I know I can do this. With God here and my friends there, surely this is going to be another challenging and hopefully exciting period of my life.

This is it! (fingers-crossed)
