Noypi

I slept late last night... oh wait, i forgot, i am nocturnal... and so i was full with energy while the others were asleep... i was browsing what's on TV until my attention was caught by the social-awareness/reality tv/whatever genre-show titled "NOYPI, Ikaw ba To?" The set-up was to find out how many FIlipinos will offer help to a man whose car broke down along various high-ways in Manila. I was amused... waiting.. like hello, do u think someone will really help him or not? but then, i was wrong. I was so touched when an old man, frail in his agLogonoypithumbnail e, wholeheartedly offered his hand, literally that is. he never minded the scorching heat of the sun. after that, a lot of men also offered their help. in another set-up, a buko-vendor/old man pretended that he was fainting. i was teary-eyed considering that i have a soft spot in my heart for old men. he was so frail but he reasoned out that he was doing it for his family. its so sad how most of us are suffering from poverty in our own country and that the "dayuhans" are enjoying our vast resources. hmmm. reminds me of Bamboo's 'tatsulok,' but that's another story. Indeed, we Filipinos must live up to what is/are expected from us, although a lot has changed due to the rising number of crimes, we still have to trust our instincts and lend our hands. and if the situation turns bad, kung hold-up ra diay to, then its time we unleash the ninja within. hehehe. pinoy pah! kusog ana karate ah!!!
anyway, back to the topic...
airing at the same time on another channel is a documentary on "Goth" subculture, which is one of the finest example of Western influences. I was once part of this culture, though I wasnt aware that i act and dress like them. All Black, thick eyeliners, silver bangles. I can still remember Loyd telling me that He will never forget me since I was the first girl who donned an all BLACK outfit at work. hehehe. mao bah? heck! i like black, black is the new red for me, or the new green, or the new pink. but then again, things changed, i now wear different color but Black will always be my favorite. in contrast to their lifestyle, i dont have black=painted rooms or black curtains and sheets. yet I admire these individuals, i am still planning to renew my being GOTH. hehe. wala man ngali sa CEBU, so i guess i have to go to MANILA to be what i am. hahahahah. peace out.....

Politics & Family

My father is running for public office this year, until then, i was never active when it comes to politics. I was offered to be one of the youth leaders before but i refused since i believe that each individual must be given freedom to choose who they want. yet again, i am now going to swallow my words, for it is inevitable. the sad thing is, my mother's siblings supported another party and it was like the start of World War III. Why? because they despised my father for being in another line-up. for us it was a blessing in disguise since it can help my father financially because no matter how much i loathed vote-buying, it cannot be deterred anymore. it's a cancer in the society already. what saddens me most is our relationship with my aunts and uncles. things will never be the same again and i don't want to think about having politics as the reason for it.

And one more thing, one of our relatives asked 20 pesos from my father and promised that she will vote for him. hahaha. Reminds me of the advertisement "What can your ten pesos buy these days?" six cups of coffeemate. heheh. so "What can your twenty pesos buy these days?" my answer -- go buy 12 cups of Coffeemate. waheheheheheheh

Americanism

I was browsing through my high school and college books last night when i found a paper that contains a speech on Americanism. It was a high school term paper or something like that. At first, I couldn't believe that I made it, my works today are mediocre compared to that paper. heheheh. Up until now, I still couldn't believe that i wrote this...

Good afternoon my fellow students. In the past days, we have again experienced another inevitable catastrophe - the rallies concerning the VFA. Do we really want them out of our country? or we're just doing it for the sake of patriotism?
Let us face it. We are rapidly developing into a nation of Brown Americans. We are frantically, hysterically trying to act and look, to think and dress like Americans. We believe in the American dream, we long for the American way of life. And we are turning our backs to the Filipino Vision. We are rejecting the Filipino heritage.
We have become so obsessed with Americanism. We have grown deeply infatuated with things stateside, that we have forgotten that we are Filipinos. We pay several pesos for a pair of American shoes and we sniff contemptuously at the suggestion that for a third of this amount, we can buy a pair of just as stylish and durable from Marikina.
It isn't just the men who are guilty of this alone. The girls (we) are just as bad. We have become so ashamed of our brown complexion that we go to beauty parlors so that our skin may be bleached several shades lighter. We mangle our hair, twist it this way and that, all because the hairdresser in New York says so.
But don't get me wrong, I have nothing against America. I myself think its wonderful, a great country. I think that we can profit enormously from many things American. We can use American ingenuity, American efficiency. We can benefit a lot from American know-how and American production methods.
We have a lot to learn from America, and obviously we... are learning fast. Unfortunately, we seem to be learning the wrong things, the undesirable things. We have absorbed the Americans love for luxuries, for comfort. We have adopted American materialism. We have become contaminated by the American pre-occupation of pursuing the almighty dollar.
I repeat, I have nothing against America, and I don't advocate, like so many super patriots, the complete severance of our ties with America. But I advocate a reappraisal, a general overhauling of our attitudes, our perspectives. I am all for borrowing the Americans' independence of spirit, but not if it means the breaking up of the traditional closeness of the Filipino family. I am all for achieving the Americans' high standard of living, but not if it means surrendering our spirituality, our simplicity, and our decency.

whew! this is mighty long huh? You be the judge. COMMENTS anyone? I too am guilty of Americanism, considering ive tried straightening my hair. hehehe. but that's different though! hekhekhek.....

Things I've Learned From Cartoons

My eyes were literally glued to the TV these days and to one channel only. Cartoon Network. also, ive been trying to wear out our DVDs by showing the same cartoon films over and over again. its a good thing ive got my nieces 'coz i will really get "kusi" in the "bugan" from my mama. ngano daw cge ko tan-aw binata. hehehe. I am always a big fan of animation 'coz it's one of the 10 wonders of the world. ngeks. heheh. anyway, lemme round up some of my favorites and what ive learned from it.

Jb 1. Johnny Bravo - let's face it. a dumb guy never gets hot chicks. hehehe. read between the lines boys.

Dex 2.
Dexter's Laboratory - a good example of the saying "small but terrible." imagine what the world will be like if we have a couple of dexter around. and oh, Deedee is one great example of how pesky sisters can be. heheheh

Knd 3.
Codename: Kids Next Door - ever heard of someone saying that they dont wanna grow up. well folks this one is for you. No.1, No.2, No.3, No.4, and No. 5 will try everything to battle adultery.(not adultery, u read it as adulteeree.)

Ppg 4.
Powerpuff Girls - great things come in cute packages. who could resist these cute little heroes out to save their town. poor lil gurls. na oh, ever noticed how enigmatic mr. mayor's secretary is? hehehe. why is she always cut off half body .heheh. swangit ngali.

Bm 5.
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy - I like Mandy's character. She's a realist. the show is like The Simpsons, its got an opening skit. one of the few lines i liked from mandy is "if something is going wrong, it could get worse" get it? i guess we should treat life as such, because this is indeed a very very cruel world. OOps, i almost forgot, Billy's stupidity is of always great big help to them. heheh. i wonder why?

Tj 6.
Tom & Jerry - a classic. the typical cat-mouse rivalry but it never fails to amuse me. again, another great example of Karma "what goes around comes around"

X 7.
Xiaolin Showdown - now i know that most of u are familiar with this since it is also aired on Studio 23. well, with great power comes in a round package. heheheh. Omi is so cute but deadly. yet, the most important lesson here is teamwork.

Ls 8.
Leroy & Stitch
- the sequel to Lilo & Stitch. and like the first one, i loved it. aside from appreciating Aloha spirit, it was a feel good movie especially when Elvis Presley's records were set on. and one more thing, ive picked a few scientific lingo from Pleakley (the one eyed-three-legged-creature) it's this-
Grain based flakes immersed with bovine gland extract - translation? breakfast- cereal & milk - heheh. kinda cool huh!

Simpsons
9. The Simpsons - man! i almost forgot this one. heheh. i guess Homer is that contagious. hehehe. well, a typical American family. the great Lisa, the cool Bert but badlongon :), Marge the ultimate mother figure, and oh! Homer. one of his famous lines? "MARGE!!!! What number do you dial for 911?" wahahahahahha

T-A-M-B-A-Y

Cooltext56041101 My tambay days will officially turn a year tomorrow and I can't say that it has ended though. My mother is giving me hints everyday that she STILL wont make me find another job. Well, i cant blame her, after what we've been through when i was really sick. But now that Im ok, i cant wait to kick butts again. hehehe. no, really now, i just cant imagine myself stayin home and doin' nothing. considering that ive been independent at an early age. (i studied away from my family since high school). This is by far the longest time i have spent with my family. its not that i dont want to, its just that there's this person in me that wanted to go out and be free. Anyway, my tambay days werent as dull as a 1950s movie though. In fact, I had fun, pure fun that is. During the campaign periods, i went to different places i thought i would never set foot on. imagine ikapitong buntod. hehehe. well, the perks of politics is not as bad either. ive been to variety shows where mediocre singers kept on singing Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" but with verbal faults though. oohh, i just cant get enough of them. heheh. imagine hearing them sing
"I want some hot
stop baby this evenin'
gotta have some hot
stop
gotta have some lovin' tonight
I need hot
stop"
hehehehehehehehehe.
Back to my tambay and laag days. aside from these singers, we also had actors and actresses, hmm Mark Heras is cute, the Viva Hotbabes are sizzling, and hmm, Ara Mina is Ara Mina. heheh. u know what I mean.
Then again, kung tambay ka, kung asa ang disco adto ka. hehehe. Yes, ive been to every disco in town, i even got sick (again) because of stress. and oh, the never ending search for cute guys. but unfortunately, there seems to be a scarcity of cute men in our place. heheh. way ayo..
For my mental development(char), ive been reading books, but somehow i can feel that the continuous intake of antibiotics and other anti-anything had a bad effect on my memory. Well, I was reading a dictionary that has a glossary of commonly misused word in it. So I skipped the first part and read on when i came across a word which was unfamiliar. I was trying to collect my thoughts on it until I cant seem to figure out anymore its meaning. Frantically, i searched for a dictionary not knowing that I had it already in my hands. hehehehehe. ANGAT pinoy na ko. huhuhuhuhu
Furthermore, I want to thank all those brilliant persons who came up with the Internet concept, if it werent for them, i could have died from boredom. I know im exaggerating. hehehe. but beeing online kept me close to my friends and they're the only ones i can talk to. thanx guys.
ive got lots to tell but i think id better shut it now. hehehehehe

The Things I Do When Bored

Well-la-de-dah! Im back and overflowing with ideas. hehehe. Actually, I was supposed to do this like one hour ago, but a friend burst my bubble. Oh well, so much for that. Ive been dormant for like a month now. Like always, Im bored and been doing those spur-of-the-moment things.

Aaah, the things you do when you're bored. Well, I found our dictionary sitting in a corner gathering dust, (looy pod) and so i picked it up and scanned until I saw the supplemental page which had almost everything in it, but I was most attracted to the quotations section - from A to Z. Here are some of my favorites.

"Not doing more than the average is what keeps the average down. "
-exactly, now if only i could put this into action. (wahahahaha)

"Adversity makes men, and prosperity makes monsters" - Victor Hugo
-nice one! that explains his gargoyles in "The Hunchback of..." :) but anyway, it is true, we see it everyday.

"Advice is seldom welcome, and those who need it the most, like it the least" - Lord Chesterfield
- now that rings a bell!!! ding! ding! ding!. hehehe. I used to give a lot of advice, that was when I care for a lot of people. But now I realized, I'm fooling myself.

"Strength is born in the deep silence of long-suffering hearts; not amid joy." - Felicia Hemans
- if this is true, then I'm pretty sure I can be Wondewoman right now. I've been to the deepest silence of suffering. uhuh!

"Age... is a matter of feelings, not years"
- Ah! one of my favorites. hehehehe. That's why I feel like 18 yrs. old right now. *wink

"Those who write clearly have readers, those who write obscurely have commentators." - Albert Camus
- now this is very intriguing. Ive been blogging since birth (exagg) but i rarely have comments, does that mean I've got readers?????? I sure hope so.

"Some folks can look so busy doin' nothing that they seem indispensable."
- there goes that bell again! heheheh. I do this all the time.
No, Im kidding, I do this when I dont wanna talk with someone I dont like.

"When angry count four, when very angry, swear." - Mark Twain
- for me, its the other way around, I swear and then I count, only up to three. wahwheheheheheheh

"Some men are alive simply because it is against the law to kill them." - Ed Howe
- What?????

"Be nice to people on your way up because you'll meet them on your way down." - Wilson Mizner
- a cool thought to ponder on *smile

"No one need think that the world can be ruled without blood. The civil sword shall and must be red and bloody." -Martin Luther
- bloody hell! Then the world will be like a Quentin Tarantino film. hehehehehehe

"When a girl ceases to blush, she has lost the most powerful charm of her beauty." - Gregory I
- hmmm. cute one. I still blush, but with my ears. hehehe. dang!

"Common sense is very uncommon."
- straight to the point dahling!!!

First Timer

Hello there! Yeah you! I dunno if somebody is reading this or not, well if your facing this one then thanx. heheheh. Im new here, I do blogs in Friendster and in Multiply but somehow I am in need of something more. I want the whole world to hear my voice through my writing. (corny) no really, in our home, I rarely have someone with sense to talk to. Its either having arguments with Ma or sharing jokes with Pa. But when I wanted to be serious, I cant turn to them, I guess I'll just have to talk to myself through these blogs and then read it all over again. Well, this is all for now.
